T7s 6-2 Madison Regionals 10th (Full Write Up) 1.0

Hey guys, so a lot of people were curious to know the list I played at the Madison regional, so I decided to do a write up on the deck and how my tournament went. So first things first it really sucked to finish 6-2 and only get 10th when my buddy running the same list outside of like 3 cards had the same record as me and got 7th. I'm proud of him for making it just sucks we had the same record and I didn't get in. I put A LOT of testing and work into this deck and it performed exactly how I thought, AMAZING! Tarkin is seriously a top 5 character in this game if built right.The reason I don't think hes played as much is because this is a hard deck to pilot, lots of dice lots of decisions. I just put literally over a month of tuning and testing into the deck and this is what I came up with.Two other members of my team Ran my Tarkin 7s list outside of a few cards they changed to there liking. My buddy Matt, who top 4 loves Battle Fatigue and I hate it. :) It isn't turned on in the first round and we are only playing 8 removal cards and majority of the time It was a dead card for me until at least round 3 and I'd rather play a Card like Overconfidence with a spot a blue instead of a requirement Like Battle Fatigue. So now I'll tell you my match ups and how they went.

Round 1: BYE I'm a store champion so I got the luxury of a round 1 bye.

Round 2: So the event was 76 players and I got paired against my buddy Matt, MIRROR MATCH! What are the odds right? We get paired against each other and played a long grindy match while also both annoyed that we had to play each other. The game was long but I was a resource shy of killing him which sucks. My 7s is at 2 health and his is at 6 health with a shield. Both our Tarkins are dead going into our last round. I claimed the round before because I had a Scorched Earth in my hand so I needed the battlefield. I roll out get enough damage to put his 7s at 1 life and he rolled in getting the perfect roll rolling the 3 modifier side on the ancient to pair with 7s one melee and I had no way to remove it. :( Scorch earth put him at 1 health and so did my melee so I took a loss. :( (1-1)

Round 3: I'm a little frustrated my tournament started out that way but needed to keep my composer because I had a long tournament ahead of me. Sit down and My opponent is playing Elite Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch Bala-Tik - Gang Leader Death Trooper Really sweet deck. I won the roll off taking my battlefield which saved me a ton in the match being able to claim and remove range. It was a long grindy game battling through 3 characters and 2 Witch Magick. He ended the game with no cards in library and also his Bala dieing to damage as well I had it on both fronts. (2-1)

Round 4: I'm paired against Obi Maz piloted by a guy I know through the DBG discord named Bluefalcon. Good player awesome dude! So starting the match I was unsure who I wanted to go for so I decided i'd go for Maz and just grind out against the Jedi master kenobi in the late game. He starts out with a Truce which made me very happy seeing as all my upgrades cost Zero in my deck and I had a Maul's Lightsaber in my opener. Not having any zero cost upgrades in my opener kind of sucks because you really need them the more dice with Tarkin the better. Having a round 1 Mauls saber is seriously amazing! He played a Heirloom Lightsaber on his Obi. He started slicing down Tarkin while I kept 7s alive to try and take the match for me. He killed Tarkin Round 2 and I killed Maz round 2. He started the round with a Reaping The Crystal into a Handcrafted Light Bow. Obi is ready to mess some stuff up! We play a long grindy game and I made a mistake not playing Force Illusion with a 3 melee showing because i just wanted to try and be faster. Well that was a mistake because a My Ally Is The Force wrecked me. The game could still go any way. Going into the last round of our game. I roll out get a good roll but I'm shy lethal by 1 point. He rolls in gets a special on his lightbow and a 3 on the obi dice. I have scorched earth in hand and both my melee damage and scorched earth damage put his obi to 1 health so I ended up losing with a 1 health character again! (2-2)

Round 5: Po Hondo a match up I love getting because its a easy beating for T7s to do. I got a sweet hand having both Sith Holocron and Chance Cube in my opener with a Force Lightning to cron into play. Im ready to rumble. He ends up vandalizing my cron which is ok because than i just made a bunch of money with chance cube and get to suit my 7s up with a mauls saber and Vibroknife round 1. I get a round 1 kill on Po which was incredible and the match was smooth sailing after that. (3-2)

Round 6: Elite Bala-Tik - Gang Leader Elite Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch First Order Stormtrooper. I won my battlefield again and that saved me a ton of damage in the match up. He ended up putting a lot of his indirect damage on 2 diff characters and with the combine damage of using the best defense I got to kill his first order pretty quickly. I slice through a force illusion on bala and get him dead round 4. He didnt even get to use his reset to advantage after killing Tarkin because sister cut him down pretty easy. That left Mother talzin vs 7s. we played a long game because of 2 witch magics but I got there. (4-2)

Round 7: Obi maz again. I win the die roll and take his battle field Obi wans hut. I can get my starting shields plus the claim on it can benefit me well. I got an exploisive start and he ended up putting a lot of his indirect damage on maz because his obi was taking heavy pressure from both Tarkin and 7s. End of 2nd round i got one card left in my hand after he sounds the alarm maz has a shield and 4 health left. I'm thinking if i can kill maz now going into the 3rd round with both my characters alive This should be smooth sailing for me. I discard my last card and roll 2 sticks on the 7s dice and the 2 mod sticks on the vibro, thats a dead maz. Round 3 he god rolls into insane damage and pretty much 1 shots Tarkin so its a battle between Obi and 7s again. Well this time 7s got the best of the jedi master. (5-2)

Round 8: I'm told by a lot of my friends just win and your in, so I tell my self I got this! Sit down to play, its Obi Maz. Im like ok, Im 1-1 in this match up and it feels 50/50 so lets get it. We play a long grindy game where I best Ole Obi wan again take the game. (6-2)

Like I said in the beginning of the write up, my buddy and I had the same record so I'm feeling good. My tie breakers or something must of been bad because I ended up getting 10th at 6-2 and 3 other 6-2s got in over me so crap. There is my tournament. :(

Going forward I strongly recommend T7s if you like your self a good control deck that can also pump out godly amounts of damage. This is my list for now but things can change. I can see maybe cutting 1 Dark Counsel for another force ability like push or wave.
