Hey guys! I have been playing Captain Phasma - Elite Trooper since Awakenings and even though during the Rein of FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper I still had believed in the Awakenings Chrome Queen.

So If you have been in a hole or closet for the last 2 weeks, the new Rules Refrence Guide has dropped. I'm not going to go into great detail of the entire changes, but the noteable things you should know are the following.

Replacing(Overwriting) Upgrades is now ONCE per Round - This limits FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper and Rey - Force Prodigy to play mostly fair.

Vibroknife now states Damage dealt by this die or modified by this die is unblockable. - Shields are now way more relevant and has came back in a huge way, so much so that things like On The Hunt and Intimidate are coming back.

Balance of the Force, The following character costs are now superseding there original printing. Characters for +1 Cost to both Normal and Elite Cost are Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician (Was 9/13, Now 10/14) Characters for +2 Cost to both Normal and Elite Cost are Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot (Was 14/18, Now 16/20) Unkar Plutt - Junk Dealer (Was 10/13, Now 12/15) FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper (Was 10/13, Now 12/15) - This is were a vast majority of the meta shifting comes from. Aside from Sabine/Ezra. Every Top Tier Deck was hurt in a massive way (not unplayable), but slowed down or powered down.

Other card erratas - Imperial Inspection is now set aside after the first use. It's a Trap! no longer has ambush and only effects 2 red die. (Card is now dead). Heat Of Battle now only effects 2 of your opponents die and only 2 of yours. (Also Completely Trash)

Ok So onto why this makes Captain Phasma - Elite Trooper back to Tier 1. The meta is slowed down and one of Phasmas biggest fears was Imperial Inspection, which has taken a huge hit. Even if the card still sees play, I don't think losing a max of 4 resources will hurt as bad.

Onto the card choices, big first thing alot of competitive players will see is "Where are the Z6 Riot Control Baton" We don't need them anymore really. The re-deploy is great but with the 2 drop re-deploys no longer in as much Jeopardy from Imperial Inspection, we can play pure guns, helps with action management.

Key Cards that have been very powerful - On The Hunt and Probe. These 2 cards are making a comeback so don't be taken by surprise when your opponent throws down these.

So why are those cards so good now? Well since shields have made a huge comeback playing On The Hunt is a great way to contastly keep them in check. Bonus is you can remove character die as well with it.

Probe is not as obvious, this card gives you a great answer to someone setting up Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert for Never Tell Me The Odds, or Palpatine - Galactic Emperor with Rise Again. This is where Friends in Low Places can't deal with. I mention these 2 decks because with the new rules reference, those decks will be what competes with this deck. Having a high chance of grabbing there huge events is key.

The rest of the deck is very streamlined. The only other card that could make it in here is Rocket Launcher, Since we play an Imperial HQ, this fixes Rocket Launchers constant pay sides.

The list overall is fairly simple, Keep Phasma Alive with guardian and throw upgrades on her. Otherwise please comment below!

Why are there so many one-ofs in the? Wouldn't you want 2 LL-30 Blaster Pistol and two On The Hunt? Also, why the inclusion of Imperial HQ, you don't have a whole ton of pay-sides in the deck.

@Icarus Since the deck is primarily built around beefing up Captain Phasma - Elite Trooper you only need 3 of the best upgrades, typically the 1 cost stuff will be overwrought at some point in the game. LL-30 Blaster Pistol was a late addition to bring the re-deploy weapons to 4, the 2nd copy of On The Hunt can be redundant because once you have used the special in a round the 2nd special is less potent usually. Also you typically dont want to spend 2 resources to get rid of character dice. If the card could hit more than character die, I would consider a 2nd copy. Imperial HQ helps with First Order Stormtrooper, X-8 Night Sniper, Captain Phasma's Blaster, Holdout Blaster, DH-17 Blaster Pistol. I have been considering replacing the Aftermath with another Imperial HQ.

I like adding another copy of HQ, the card is so good man. Drop the single aftermath and I would add 1 rocket launcher dont care what to come out for it but i like at least 1.

You won't have enough resources for Endless Ranks.

TheKraftyOne 287

@mrslythe with the 1 Aftermath and the very cost efficiencies of 0 cost and 1 cost cards. Our resources tend to be carried the the next round and so forth. Back when I played 2 Aftermath I easily played 2 Endless Ranks. With guardian and The Best Defense... you can really go through a couple First Order Stormtrooper.

@OnlyinAbsolutes I'll have to test it out then, thanks.
